We are deeply saddened by the loss of Prof.Dr. Murray Gell-Mann on 24 May 2019.

Nobel Laureate and complexity giant Murray Gell-Mann, one of the 20th Century’s greatest physicists – pioneer, Santa Fe Institute co-founder, Father of quarks.

Starting from ten years ago Prof.Dr.Murray Gell-Mann’s collaboration with our scientific director Dr. Cigdem Yalcin and his interest to our working group made valuable friendly contributions on our researchers.

Prof.Dr.Murray Gell-Mann’s visiting Turkey in 2012, was a priceless event for history of science of Turkey. He also met with some of our working group members and his collaborator Dr.G.Cigdem Yalcin in Bodrum.

As Nonlinear Science Working Group, we shall be glad that to dedicate our 19th International Symposium on Disordered Systems: Theory and Its Applications”, will be held from 15-17 November 2019 in Istanbul, to commemorate Prof.Dr.Murray Gell-Mann.

Also the symposium will be accompanied with a photography exhibition curated by Prof.Dr.Murray Gell-Mann’s collaborator and our scientific coordinator Dr. G.Cigdem Yalcin.
